This borough of about 8,000 people snuggled up against the
Oradell Reservoir, on the Hackensack River, between Emerson & New Milford, was incorporated in 1894 as Delford, New Jersey. It was Daniel Demarest, Oradell's second mayor, who is credited with giving the community its present name.
