Ridgefield Park is a thriving village located within 30 minutes of Manhattan. It has a population of approximately 12,900 residents. Ridgefield Park is one of only four villages in the state, joining Loch Arbour, Ridgewood and South Orange. The village of Ridgefield Park offers over eleven public parks, with many offering picnic areas, playgrounds, ball fields, gardens and tennis and basketball courts. The Public School District serves students in kindergarten through twelfth grades. Students in kindergarten through sixth grade attend one of three elementary schools, including Grant School, Lincoln School and Roosevelt School. Students in grades seven through twelve attend Ridgefield Park High School.

In 1860 only 15 families resided in Ridgefield Park, with stages bringing people into New York. In 1886, the first school was built and by 1888 the population had grown to almost five hundred people, with farming as the principal occupation. By that time there were thirty nine school children and one teacher. The village form of government was instituted by 1892 with a territory of 620 acres.
