Town Information
Bergen County, New Jersey is a vibrant residential area situated in the northeast corner of the state bordered by New York State to the North and the Hudson River to the east. The County has 70 towns – most are residential communities with small business districts.
Bergen County is known for the excellence of its schools and the quality of its life style. It offers sites rich in beauty and historic meaning. The county abounds with parks dedicated to enjoyment. Its wooded hillsides and forests offer marvelous facilities for recreation of all kinds – from swimming to hiking, biking, fishing, camping and more.
Bergen County maintains 18 parks that offer excellent facilities for hiking, tennis, swimming, golf, riding, and skiing, as well as secluded areas for those seeking solitude or the enjoyment of its natural wonders.
For the sports enthusiast, Bergen County is the site of the New Jersey Meadowlands Complex – Giants Stadium, home of the NFL Giants and Jets, and the MLS MetroStars, Continental Airlines Arena, home to the NBA Nets and NHL Devils and the Meadowlands Racetrack for harness and thoroughbred racing. The Meadowlands also hosts many other exciting events as well as major concerts and family shows. For the shopping enthusiast, most of the national stores and chains are represented in our beautiful malls.
It's easy to plan a trip to any of the local museums and cultural or nature centers. When it comes to the performing arts, New Jersey holds the spotlight. There is year round entertainment celebrating all facets of artistic expression at the John Harms Center for the Arts and the nearby New Jersey Performing Arts Center. The County Zoo and Museum of Arts and Science feature exhibits celebrating art, science and nature. The Liberty Science Center is minutes away.
Because of its unique location, residents of Bergen County also have immediate access to the vitality and the excitement of the attractions of Manhattan with its world famous theaters, museums and cultural attractions.
